The linewidth of continuum wave laser  is the width (typically the full width at half-maximum, FWHM) of its optical spectrum. :inewidth is often discussed in terms of frequency, wavenumber or wavelength and can be expressed in different unints including Hertz (kHz, MHz, GHz etc...),  inverse centimeters (cm-1) or nanometers or picometers (nm, pm).

Relations between differnt units for typical wavelength of Ti:Sapphire laser 800 nm are as follows:

Δλ = - (c/ν2) *Δν = - λ * Δν/ν

where c is the speed of light 3*108 m/s and ν is the frequency of light at that wavelength

for λ = 800 nm  ν = 375 THz

So for Δν = 1 GHz = 109Hz  Δλ = 800 nm * 2.67*10-6 = 2.13 * 10-3 nm = 2.13 pm (picometer)

For CW Ti:Sapphire laser TRESTLES CW LH (Ti:Sapphire CW oscillator) which is typically tunable in the range 700 - 1000 nm the typical linewidth is:

<45 GHz - with birefringent filter only  -  corresponds to 96 picometer at 800 nm
<20 GHz (with 1 etalon) -  corresponds to 42.6 picometer at 800 nm
<2 GHz (with 2 etalons) -  corresponds to 4.26 picometer at 800 nm
 

So, even with birefringent etalon only the linewidth is less than 0.1 nm which is enough for the most fluorescence spectroscopy applications in condenced matter.
